Hundreds benefit from 47th free Health Fair at Midwest Swaminarayan Temple Itasca, IL

More than 300 people benefited from 47th Health fair at Midwest Swaminarayan Temple in Itasca, Illinois, September 18, 2022.

It was sponsored by the Midwest Swaminarayan Temple, Lohana Association of Greater Chicago (LAGC), Gujarati Samaj of Chicago (GSC) and Kadva Patidar Samaj (KPS), according to a news report from Jayanti Oza.

The goal was to provide medical check ups to those who may not be able to afford medical services due to insurance and medical coverage problems.

More than 315 participants came to get the check ups, organizers estimated.

More than 21 doctors and 110 Health Care professionals provided volunteer services.

Registration and front desk services were provided by Dipak Desai, Rajesh Desai, Harmil Patel, Kadamb Thakkar and Team.

This year, the Consent form and medical Assessment form were input on computers and were printed.

Vital data such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, were checked for each participant. These services were provided by Bhavna Thakkar, Nisha Rao and Rushin Parikh. The Blood

Sugar levels testing and consultation were provided by Kishore Chugh, Tejas Patel, Hansal Patel and Rajesh Chotalia.

Volunteers were also busy at the blood draw tables. They included Sonal Thakkar, Vinu Patel, Daya Bhimani, Varsha Patel, Vibha Patel and Kevel Patel.

Blood samples of 290 patients were collected and sent to the UIC laboratory for testing. The report will be reviewed by doctors and Blood report will be mailed to each patient within three weeks. Urine Analysis was performed by Dimple Thakkar, Krupaben Shah and Dev Patel.

There were 5 EKG machines were used to provided EKG for Male and female over age 55 and continually operated by many volunteers including, Minaxi Mittal, Dineshri Shah, Tulsi Thakkar, Puja Goyal, Savan Patadia, Vipinbhai Shah, , Ramesh Thakkar and Aakash Thakkar.

The EKG results were explained to the patient by Cardiologist Dr. Hetal Gandhi.

Physical examination and consultation were provided by Primary care physicians including Dr. Jayashree Raju, and Dr. Yohesh Parikh, Dr. Ashish Patel, and Dr. Nirali Parikh.

Dr. Rutuja Patel gave guidance and consultation to people with obesity and diabetes.

At this fair, two Aryuvedic doctors, Umangi Patel and Jagruti Patel provided aryuvedic consultation and advice.

Orthopedic and Rheumatology consultation provided by Dr. Nisarj Gandhi. Chiropractic exams done by Dr. Seema Mani, Acupuncture consultation was provided by Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar and Physical Therapy was provided by Nitul Thakkar.

Dental Examination and consultation were provided by Dr. Neel Goyal and Dr. Shailval Patel.

Nutritional, Diet and Diabetes awareness was provided by Sweta Sheth and Diptiben Shah.

Bone Density Tests and OBGYN, as well as Eye Screening tests were conducted by several other dedicated physicians. The bone Density testing was performed by Daksha Thakkar and Jenis Thakkar; Oby/Gyn services and Bone Density consultation was provided by Dr.Lata Gupta; Eye Screening and consultation were provided by Dr. Shivani Sampat; and Pediatric Consultation was offered by Dr. Varun Sampat.

Hearing test and consultation was provided by Dr. Chandra Dachepalli. Flu shots were provided by Sushila Patel, Gita Patel and Narendra Patel..

This is the 33rd year that Jayanti Thakkar has coordinated Health Fair in various temples in Chicagoland area since 1989.

The Itasca Swaminarayan temple provided additional support with tea, coffee, and light snacks for attendees and volunteers.
