New executives sworn in to lead Long Island Indo-American Lions Club

The Long Island Indo-American Lions Club held an “Installation Ceremony” Sunday July 30, 2023, at Metropolitan, Glen Cove, NY.

The Club has accomplished numerous charitable projects and activities throughout the past years, under the leadership of Founder President Indu Gajwani and Immediate Past President Dr. Sunil Mehra, a press release from the organization said.

Special guests, community leaders and members of the club attended the swearing-in, among them District Governor Mark Bothello, Past District Governors- Paula Umreiko, Andy Umreiko, immediate Past Governor Rupal Sehgal and Second Vice DG-Maria Leitao.

The Emcee, Anju Sharma welcomed everyone and highlighted the achievements of the club. This is the first club founded with 34 charter members, and in just 4 years it is “Number one” in terms of maximum membership, and also leads in Melvin Jones Award recipients.

The program began with the Pledge of Allegiance read by Anchit Aery, the Lions Prayer by Dr. Abhay Malhotra, a toast by Saurabh Sheth and a toast to the King by Poojaa Makhijani.

Founder President Gajwani introduced the dignitaries. The new members were installed by DG-Mark Bothello; PDG Paula Umreiko installed the Executive Committee; and immediate PDG Rupal Sehgal installed Ad Hoc committee members.

Anju Sharma introduced President Shyam Gajwani and highlighted his contribution to the club as creator and backbone of the Club. She expressed gratitude for his services to the Club.

Gajwani, the President for 2023-2024, in his address thanked everyone for their continuous support and trust.

The vote of thanks was delivered by General Secretary Sanju Sharma, and attendees took to the floor to dance in a joyful ending to the event.
