Mahesh Bhagia endorsed for Edison Mayor by local Democratic organization

The local Edison, N.J. Democratic organization, on Feb. 24, 2021, endorsed Mahesh Bhagia who is seeking to enter the race for Mayor of Edison.

Bhagia is currently the chair of the Edison Democratic Organization.

According to ouredison.com news outlet, Bhagia defeated another Indian-American candidate Sapana Shah, as well as current Edison Councilman Richard Brescher, by a long margin. Brescher received only 32 votes and Shah only 7, whereas Bhagia secured 101.

The EDO also endorsed some candidates running for council seats. Among the three candidates endorsed was Indian-American Sparshil Patel, Tom McCann, and Shannon Peng, ouredison.com reported. They will be running for the seats held by Sam Joshi who is also a candidate for Edison Mayor and will be facing off against Bhagia in the June primary, Bob Diehl, and Alvaro Gomez.
