Indian Consulate in New York pays homage to B.R. Ambedkar on his birthday

The Indian Consulate in New York commemorated the 133rd birth anniversary of Bharatratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in partnership with Shri Guru Ravidas Temple Society of New York, April 14, 2024, in the Consulate premises.

The framer of the Indian Constitution was paid a floral tribute and honored for his inspirational legacy of equality and social Justice, the Consulate said in its post on X formerly Twitter, @IndiainNewYork.

India’s Consul General and several notable community leaders attended and the crowd filled the hall at the Consulate.

The City of New York has a unique connection to Babasaheb, the Consulate noted in its post. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar earned his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University about 100 years ago.
