Association Of Indians In America bids India’s Consul General farewell

The Association of Indians in America – NY Chapter, held a farewell send-off for India’s Consul General in New York Sandeep Chakravorty, at Mint restaurant June 23, 2020.

Organizers feted the CG recognizing his “outstanding services in building stronger relations with the community,” a press release from AIA said.

President of AIA Harish Thakkar thanked CG Chakravorty for his “excellent” community building services.

After almost three years as India’s envoy in New York, Consul General Chakravorty is scheduled to leave by end of June.

Speaking at the event, Chakravorty said that during his tenure, the engagement with the Indian-American community and the members of the Indian diaspora had been at an “unparalleled level,” as  a result of which, the communities built a very special relationship with the Consul General office. He also said that he departs with fond memories of this beautiful community, the press release said

Heeta Thakkar, AIA youth member welcomed the guests and paid a tribute to Consul General Chakravorty  and his wife Taruna Chakravorty for serving Indian communities so well.

The Guests of Honour, Padma Shri Dr. Sudhir Parekh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, Kamlesh Mehta, Dr. Shashi Shah, Animesh Goyanka, Dr. Satish Anand and Dr. Urmilesh Arya spoke at the event, giving kudos to the CG’s commitment to communities and praising his outstanding contributions, the press release said.
