New York City and State honor Washington Bureau Chief of News India Times

New York City: On April 25, 2024, the Deputy Commissioner of New York City Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, Dilip Chauhan, awarded a Citation on behalf of Mayor Eric Adams to Washington Bureau Chief of News India Times, T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman in recognition of his accomplishments.

Chauhan noted “On behalf of New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, I would like to honor T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman with this Citation for his outstanding service to the Indian-American community as well as his services to the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce [IAICC].” Jayaraman served as IAICC’s Communications Director from 2017-2021.

Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold as well as a member of IAICC Executive Board, IAICC Executive Chairman & CEO, Appen Menon, IAICC Chairman of USA division, Shankar Rachakonda, and IAICC members Arpita Srivastava, and Supriya Doshi also joined Chauhan during the Citation presentation that took place at the IAICC’s North-East Regional Chapter meeting.

The Citation stated Jayaraman made a “positive difference” while noting “Since 2021, he has served as the Washington Bureau Chief and White House Correspondent for News India Times, part of Parikh Worldwide Media, the largest Indian American publishing group in the United States. His articles also appear in Desi Talk New York, a weekly newspaper serving South Asian readers in the Tri-State area.”

The Citation further added, “I applaud T. Vishnudatta for his contributions to the field of journalism, which is so vital to the strength of our democracy, as well his commitment to inform, engage, and empower our dynamic Indian American community. Now, therefore, I, Eric Adams, Mayor of the city of New York on Thursday, April 25, 2024, do hereby confer this citation on, T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, PhD.”

On April 24, 2024, New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, the first Indian-American woman elected to New York State Office, also presented Jayaraman with a Proclamation from the State of New York.

The Proclamation referred to Jayaraman as a “master wordsmith” further adding “Indian Americans enjoy contents from Dr. T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman that is tailored to their interests.”
