The Bhediya mania has begun, with Jio Studios’ and Dinesh Vijan’s creature comedy becoming the talk of the town since its trailer launch, and now, the makers have released the first song, Thumkeshwari, which translates as ‘goddess of rhythmic beats.’

The launch event of its first song on October 28 at Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety-Galaxy cinemas, now better-known as the G-7 multiplex, saw more than 1500 fans hooting, cheering and going berserk as Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon shook a leg both inside the auditorium as well as on its famed foyer-top. Varun and Kriti also invited members of the media and the fans to jive with them on stage.

A groovy dance number that sees lead pair Varun and Kriti flaunt some masala moves to Ganesh Acharya’s choreography, it inspired Varun to say, “Thumkeshwari is a number that’s tailor-made to burn the dance floor. I thoroughly enjoyed performing to its funky tune. The song’s lyrics are a catchy delight, and I am sure fans are going to have a gala time dancing to the track.”

About working on the song, Kriti says, “I had an absolute ball shooting for Thumkeshwari. I was sharing screen space with Varun after a very long time (the pair shared the lead in the 2015 Dilwale) and we have never worked on this kind of a grand track together.”

A highlight of Thumkeshwari is the ‘sensational’ special appearance from Stree ‘alumni’ Shraddha Kapoor, shaking a leg with Varun. We also wonder if there is more to Shraddha here than just this song.

Talking about the track, composers Sachin-Jigar said in a joint statement, “The song exudes the kind of fun and enjoyable vibe that Bhediya is all about with an addictive tune, thumping beats and catchy lyrics.”

Sachin and Jigar along with Ash King and Rashmeet Kaur have rendered the song, and Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics. The Maddock Films production, directed by Amar Kaushik, also features Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee and releases pan-India in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in 2-D and 3-D on November 25.
