It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of dearly beloved Shivaprakash Banad on June 24, 2021.

Shivaprakash Banad was born to Nandiswar and Parvathamma Banad in Mysore State (Now Karnataka) to a pious Lingayat family.

He was a loving and dutiful husband to Nagaveni Banad, father to Preetham Banad and Pooja Basavaraj, father-in-law to Dr. Ashwin Basavaraj and Mrs. Amisha Banad. Brother to Dr. Jagannath, Chandraprabha (Mani), Dr.  Premnath and late Dr. Viswanath (Founder of Vision of Asia and ITV) and brother-in-law to Sathya, Gayathri, Dr. Sheela and Late Sri. Chinnapa.

He was also the Uncle and Great Uncle to tons of nieces and nephews, and loved by so many friends and colleagues.

He was a simple, quiet, and principled man! He never spoke ill about anyone or treated others with anything but respect.  Knowing Shivaprakash “Shamu”, was to know a one of kind decent human being with a large heart!

He was an engineer by education. Professionally, he dedicated more than 40 years to television broadcasting alongside his brother Dr. B. N. Viswanath  and sister in law, Sathya Viswanath.

From the very inception of Vision of Asia, he was a news and media man. His favorite trip of the year was to the National Broadcasters Association annual conference in Las Vegas, where they would showcase Broadcast Television’s latest equipment and technology.

He was a wonderful man with a genuine smile and he will be missed by all! We pray that the Almighty bless his everlasting soul!
