Indian Consulate in Chicago celebrates 75th Republic Day of India

India’s Consul General Somnath Ghosh unfurled the National Flag, followed by everyone joining in to sing the National Anthem of India. He then read out the address of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Consul General Ghosh also spoke about the India-US strategic partnership and the valuable contributions of the Indian diaspora.

The program was attended by State Senator Ram Villivalam, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, and prominent Indian Americans.

A cultural program was also part of the celebration where Hindustani classical instrumentalist Souryadeep Bhattacharya played the Sarod accompanied by Tabla player Arun Sabapathy.

It also included an Odissi dance performance by Colin Mascarenhas and Neeti Sabarwal from Aikyam Odissi Dance Collective Chicago. In addition, patriotic songs were sung by Ishaan Ahmed and Nalini Parikh.
