Indian American supply chain expert included in Marquis Who’s Who

Supply chain expert Rakhi Agarwal of New Jersey, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who (marquiswhoswho.com), a prestigious publication which profiles individuals selected on the basis of factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field.

Agarwal’s excellence in supply chain is based on 2 decades of work, including as the vice president and global head of supplier diversity & risk for Sanofi, a June 20, 2023, press release said.

Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on sourcing and engaging in supplier diversity for the company’s supply chain. She has also served as the president and chair of the board for Discover since 2019.

Agarwal began her career as a material management and supply chain intern with Kohler Co. in 2001, and as a process excellence intern for Johnson and Johnson in 2002.

She also did an MBA internship with Mead Johnson Nutrition in 2004 and started her professional career with Bristol Myers Squibb.

She subsequently served as the associate director of Merck until 2016, when she took a role as the head of strategic sourcing and procurement for Albany Molecular Research Inc. now known as CURIA.

During this time, Agarwal also was a task force member for the Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies Association’s supply chain and procurement task force and became a chair of the supply chain committee task force in 2019.

In 2018, she was the franchise engagement leader for small and large molecules platform and discretionary spend for the Janssen Supply Chain of Johnson & Johnson and was promoted to the global strategy leader in 2022.

She received the presidents’ award at Bristol Myers Squibb in 2006, and Women in Supply Chain Award from the USC Marshall School of Business in 2022.

Agarwal has a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from Michigan State University (2002), and a Master of Business Administration in management from the University of Southern Indiana (2005).

She is certified in planning and inventory management by the Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS). Agarwal also holds a certified purchasing manager certificate from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM).

According to the press release, Agarwal’s father R. C. Gupta was a driving force and her inspiration, and held the motto of “Yato Bhave Tate Bhavati,” meaning you become what you believe. Her mother ND Gupta “has always been her pillar of support encouraging her to have her own voice and stand up courageously for the right,” the press release said.

Agarwal is married to Dr. Parminder Agarwal, a chemical engineer with multiple patents to his credit. The couple has three kids Yash, Aryan and Juhi.
