Global association of Indian physicians holds successful XIV Annual Conference in Lucknow

Physicians of Indian origin and experts in many fields of medicine from 57 countries came to Lucknow, March 16 and 17, 2024, to attend the 14th Annual Conference of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, GAPIO.

Many of the experts and special guests addressed the 14th Annual Conference of GAPIO held in Lucknow March 16-17, 2024.

More than 500 participants from USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Middle East, Africa, UAE, India and other countries   participated in this conference where important health care issues were addressed, and GAPIO Awards were presented.

India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was the Chief Guest and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education of Uttar Pradesh state Brajesh Pathak, and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sudhanshu Trivedi were the Guests of Honor, a press release from GAPIO said.

The GAPIO conference has become a signature event in the medical calendar, a forum for exchange of knowledge and ideas on clinical skill development, leadership development, women’s health, solutions to contemporary health issues and modernizing the approach to delivering healthcare.

Three Credit hours were granted by Uttar Pradesh Medical Council for this conference.

Founder President of GAPIO Dr. Prathap C Reddy, chairman Apollo Hospitals Group said, “The spirit of the physicians of Indian origin to excel in India and overseas is what we are striving to recognize. Their laudable efforts and path breaking work across the globe has made every Indian proud.”

He also had words of praise for those honored at the conference.

Dr. Nandakumar Jairam, president of GAPIO pointed to the renowned international and national experts at the conference and the valuable  insight into cutting-edge developments they provided in their respective domains. More than 25 topics under Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology, ECMO, Physiotherapy, Women’s Health, Leadership Mantras, etc. were discussed during the conference, he noted.

Past President of GAPIO and Group Medical Director at Apollo Hospitals, Senior Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist Dr. Anupam Sibal, highlighted the “dedication and commitment towards academic excellence and collective social causes” which were the hallmark of GAPIO members, and kept the organization together despite the wide geographical distribution and diversities.

And the hybrid platform allowed colleagues to expand their knowledge, discuss critical issues and problems faced by them in their day-to-day practice, he said. “Many of the participants of this conference are young doctors who shall be at the frontier of medicine in the years to come. It is our earnest intent to train and empower young doctors to entrust them to take us into the next phase of health care delivery,” Dr. Sibal added.
