Balaji Temple in New Jersey Makes Large Food Donation

The Community Affairs Committee of the Hindu Temple and Cultural Society popularly known as the Balaji Temple in Bridgewater, New Jersey, held a food drive to help feed the poor and needy families in the community during the Holiday season.

The devotees of Balaji Temple donated more than 5,000 pounds of food which was in turn donated to the Somerset Food Bank.

Somerset Food Bank serves the poor and needy people in multiple towns and the community affairs team expressed hope that the donated food will bring joy to many folks during this holiday season, a press release from organizers said.

Volunteers of the community affairs team at the Balaji Temple  were instrumental in spreading the message, bringing in food donations, sorting and segregating it and then transporting the food to the Food Bank.

The Executive Director of Somerset Food Bank, Steve Katz expressed his appreciation to see the large donation of food collected and thanked all the volunteers and devotees of Balaji Temple. Katz also expressed a desire to work closely with the temple on future projects.

Niren Choudhury, the chair of the community affairs team, thanked all the volunteers and devotees for coming forward with the donations and extending all the help in making this mission successful.
