At the OFBJP meeting, the Minister for Jal Shakti gave a detailed speech lasting about an hour, about India’s progress and challenges since its independence in 1947, and the goals and achievements under the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged those gathered to be ambassadors for India’s achievements and its rapid technological and economic development.

He noted how in every field, whether it was the internet, or sanitation, or drinking water and toilets, India had progressed immensely since the BJP came to power in 2014. “I can say truly that no nation can be a world leader with military strength alone,” he said, rather it is the “cultural power” that brings a nation to the fore. And while all the things that the founders of the country wished had not yet been achieved, he said he was confident that in the next 25 years by the 100th anniversary India will be “Viksit Bharat,” or “Developed India” because of the speed with which it is progressing.

At the OFBJP meeting other speakers included Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, H.R. Shah of TV Asia, and several others.

Dr. Parikh spoke of his early association with OFBJP since the early 1980s, and said the supporters were strong and committed to the ideology of the party.

“We (Indian Americans) always work very hard to make sure U.S.-India relations go to the next level,” Dr. Parikh said, noting that under his presidency of the Indian American Forum for Political Education in the early 1990s, the Caucus for India and Indian Americans was established on Capitol Hill, and today with hundreds of U.S. lawmakers in the Caucus, as well as support from some 50 percent of the U.S. Congress supporting India, it is easier to further bilateral relations.

Dr. Parikh also said that he acquired media outlets and built Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold to further his philanthropic ideals. “It is a great service to the Motherland,” he said adding that his resources were available for any help needed by Motherland India.
