American Association of Engineers of Indian Origin hosts successful annual gala

Chicago: The American Association of Engineers of Indian Origin (AAEIO) hosted its third annual gala recently at the end of December 2023 at Marriott, Oakbrook IL. The gala featured the introduction of the AAEIO Board of Directors, a live musical concert by well-known playback singer Shilpi Paul, a fashion show, Shark Invest for start-up companies, and speeches by distinguished guests.

Annual Gala Chair Dr. Promod Vohra welcomed all the attendees and mentioned the benefits and importance of becoming a member of AAEIO.

President of the organization Gladson Varghese elaborated on the annual activities and achievements of AAEIO. He talked about how the organization has been supporting engineers across the globe by providing them a voice and guidance through experienced leadership and philanthropic initiatives of the organization. Varghese presented a vote of thanks to all the sponsors, supporters and the distinguished guests who attended the event. He also mentioned the future plans for the organization of starting chapters in various cities.

U.S Congressman Sean Casten, D-Illinois, inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural speech he noted he started his career as an engineer, then scientist, then ran his own business for a while before become a U.S Congressman. He congratulated AAEIO for its accomplishments and said he is working in U.S Congress on a clean energy policy. He is also in the committee of Science, Space and Technology. He noted that  there is some synergy between the goals of AAEIO and U.S Congress to work together on some issues.

The master of ceremonies was Madhura Sane.

Prior to the Gala, AAEIO’s new initiative “Shark Invest” was conducted to help start-up companies under the leadership of Manny Gandhi, Brij Sharma, Harinder Paul Singh and Prabir Datta.  This new initiative is to help start-up companies amplify the growth with mentorship, elevate with seed and series of funding.

The attendees included elected officials, CEOs, CTOs, business owners and other special guests Congressman Sean Casten, State Representative Harry Benton and Senate deputy Majority leader Senator Laura Murphy.

State Senator Murphy and State representative Harry Benton honored new Life Members of AAEIO.

AAEIO Secretary Nag Jaiswal and Treasurer Rajinder Bir Singh Mago and Ajit Pant elaborated on the charity initiatives of AAEIO and made an appeal to everyone to donate generously to support its future goals. AAEIO, Vice President Nitin Maheshwari offered the Vote of Thanks.
