Featuring Suniel Shetty, Disco Dancer— The Musical, a celebration of 1980s Hindi cinema, will premiere on April 14h and go on to April 23 in Mumbai and promises to revive foot-tapping hits, disco-style dancing and unforgettable dialogues for audiences of all generations. After sold-out shows at West End, London, Disco Dancer – The Musical has been brought to India by Saregama and Suniel Shetty.

Suniel Shetty says that this is a reminder that Hindi cinema has given a lot of joy to the world. He adds, “Especially to the Indian diaspora, it provides a connection with their memories back home. Music unites us all and this is the sentiment that we are celebrating and showing respect to through Disco Dancer—The Musical. Long before musicals, our cinema was pioneering the concept of telling a story through song and dance. We did it first.”

The actor adds that he was happy to come on board with Saregama to bring  the show to India and says, “I have grown up listening to this music, idolizing the heroes of that era, and for me and everyone else, this will be an experience of pure nostalgia. Our song and dance routines have been mocked but now people are realizing their importance and the happiness they have brought to millions.”

According to Suniel, the live musical will also allow many young talents to shine on a massive platform and says, “Saregama will attempt to create many more such opportunities and we are all very excited to bring a musical of this scale and grandeur for the first time to India.”

The show will premiere at the NSCI dome in Mumbai.
