8th Ayurveda Day celebrated at the Indian Consulate in Chicago

The Consulate General of India, Chicago, hosted the 8th Ayurveda Day 2023 on November 10, 2023, which attracted close to 100 Ayurveda enthusiasts from the Midwest region.

Recognition of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic products as holistic approach to health was the main focus of discussion, a press release from the Indian Consulate said..
The program began with the chanting of Dhanvantri Stavan and lighting of lamp by the Consul General Somnath Ghosh along with Swami Ishatmananda of the Vivekananda Vedanta Society.
Consul General Ghosh, in his opening remarks, stressed the relevance and importance of Ayurveda, which is one of the most ancient and well documented systems of medicine and  very relevant not only medically but also from a commercial point of view in modern times.

A distinguished panel of speakers from different parts of US Midwest included Swami Ishatmananda, Vaidya Greeshma Varghese from Naperville, Dr KV Rao, Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine specialist, Dr. Colleen Seen, Culinary Historian who specializes in writing about food of Indian subcontinent, Vaidya Pushpalata Biradar, Vaidya Ulka Nagarkar.

The program was moderated by Vaidya Deepti Suri, certified Ayurveda practitioner. Dr. Colleen Sen presented a book titled “Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine” to the Consul General.
The program was appreciated by the audience which comprised of prominent members of Indian diaspora and associations, Ayurveda and Yoga enthusiasts, diplomats etc.
