The Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah has won the Dadasaheb Phalke International Awards 2022 for the Best Film. Directed by Vishnuvaradhan, the film, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra, who laid down his life in the service of the nation while recapturing Indian territories from Pakistani intruders during the Kargil War in 1999, was released on Amazon Prime Video in August 2021.

The film was produced by Dharma Productions, a banner that has had an upward-moving curve of success, especially in the OTT space. Guilty, Meenakshi Sundareshwar, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives are among the films the production house gave for the web in 2021. Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, made it big in the theatres.

Shershaah has won big—three awards at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Awards. This includes for Best Film, Best Actor (Critics Choice – Sidharth Malhotra), Best Actress (Critics Choice – Kiara Advani).

With a lineup like The Fame Game, Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s web debut, and films like Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Liger, Brahmastra, Yodha and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, there is no stopping Dharma Productions and producers Hiroo and Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta.

Sidharth Malhotra’s performance has garnered appreciation from audiences and critics alike. With the beginning of awards season to celebrate cinema’s best work, Sidharth is clearly one of the top choices.

While 2021 has been an exciting year for Sidharth, the actor is promising an eclectic 2022 with films like Mission Majnu, Thank God and Yodha.
