A casually-dressed Salman Khan (sporting a green jacket with a black T-shirt and matching jeans) unveiled the trailer of his niece Alizeh Agnihotri’s debut film, Farrey at Juhu PVR in Mumbai on November 1. Actor Aayush Sharma with wife (and Salman’s sister Arpita), Sohail Khan with son Nirvaan and others were other family members also present at the event that began, as always with Khan, over 120 minutes after the time the media was called.

Alizeh Agnihotri is the daughter of actor-filmmaker Atul Agnihotri and Salman’s other sister, Alvira Agnihotri. She plays a IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) student from a humble background, who gets involved in a scandal after she is tempted by friends to help them cheat to get through an important examination.

The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Soumendra Padhi and also stars Zeyn Shaw, Sahil Mehta, Prasanna Bisht, Ronit Bose Roy and Juhi Babbar Soni. Soumendra had earlier directed Budhia Singh: Born to Run (2016), for which he had won his National Award. He has also directed Netflix’s web series Jamtara, which has seen two seasons.

Sharing the trailer, Salman Khan wrote in its caption, “Ab hoga inka asli test! #FarreyTrailer out now ” Earlier, he had shared the teaser and written, “Main toh yeh F word ki baat kar raha tha, aapne kya socha (I was talking about this ‘F’ word, what did you think). Farrey Teaser out now.”

Salman Khan has also cheered his niece Alizeh in his Instagram post, saying, “Mamu par ek ehsaan karo, jo bhi karna dil aur mehnat se karna! Always yaad rakho, Life mein go straight and turn right. Only compete with yourself. Fit hone ke chakkar mein same mat ho jaana, aur alag hone ke chakkar mein sabse alag mat ho jaana. And moossssssst importantly, ek baar jo tumne commitment kardi toh phir mamu ki bhi nahi sunnnaa (Do me a favor, whatever you do, do it with heart and hard work! Always remember, in life go straight and turn right. Only compete with yourself. Don’t be repetitious in order to get fit, and don’t be so different that you will be separated from all. And most importantly, once you have made a commitment, do not listen even to me),” he wrote posting a throwback picture with Alizeh as a kid.

The actor revealed that the movie was originally planned for digital streaming. But, when he watched the film, he was impressed and decided on a theatrical release rather than letting it “go waste” on OTT. “The credit for making such a good film has to go to the director,” he stated.

He added, “It’s very rare that we see films being made in this genre and for a certain group of audience. The kids have done a great job. The result is for everyone to see. It would be obvious to me to praise the trailer, but it’s fantastic. It will premiere on OTT Satellite only after theatrical release. I feel the film will connect with common people, especially the students who should go and watch the film.”

On a lighter note, he quipped, “I still feel directors don’t do justice to me on the screen. On a serious note, a lot of effort goes into making the film. The producers and the directors work very hard.”

Asked what would be his advice to today’s generation of actors, he stated that they should do Hindustani content, pointing out that he had debuted with Maine Pyar Kiya, Aamir Khan with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Shah Rukh Khan with Deewana, Akshay Kumar with Khiladi and Ajay Devgn with Phool Aur Kaante. He stated that if Alizeh got complacent, it will be khalaas (over). But if she works ten times harder and lets nothing come in her way, like a boyfriend who leaves her or anything else, and she just keeps working, she will be fine,

Farrey hits theatres on November 24. The film is produced by Salman Khan Films, Mythri Movie Makers, and Athena. Sachin-Jigar score music and have already expressed to me that they are proud of its music.
