An Indian-American has been hired by Wells Fargo, a bank which suffered a significant blow to its reputation after revelations that employees enrolled customers in various accounts without their knowledge because of pressure from higher-ups.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Masters from the Keller Graduate School of Management, Patel “has a big job: to put Wells Fargo on the consumer map in Chicago against the backdrop of a brand name that’s taken a beating,” said.

Patel told he saw Chicago as “a growth market,” with a “dedicated clientele.”

His most important jobs for now at Wells Fargo are “building better name and positive brand recognition” and mentoring employees, Patel  indicated to, which also reported that in his new position Patel has 8 people reporting directly to him and a total of 90 employees in the branches he oversees.

At JPMorgan Chase, Patel began as a personal banker in January 2006 and rose through branch manager to VP, Senior Branch Manager at Chase Tower a little over 2 years ago.
