The game-changing duo is all set for their next mission that will unleash on August 3, 2023. Superstar Vijay Deverakonda and whizkid director Puri Jagannadh announced their next venture, JGM (Jana Gana Manam) in Mumbai March 29. The action drama big-ticket pan-India entertainer will showcase Vijay in a never-seen-before role.

JGM will be produced by Charmme Kaur, Vamshi Paidipally and Puri Jagannadh, with screenplay, dialogues and direction by Puri Jagannadh. The action entertainer is releasing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. This adrenalin- pumping action drama is yet another mass entertainer for the audiences.

At the launch, Puri Jagannadh said, “I am extremely happy to unveil the announcement of our next project JGM. It feels great to collaborate again with Vijay after Liger and JGM is a strong narrative which is the ultimate action entertainer.” Puri Jagannadh also remarked that though 11 years have passed since his maiden Hindi outing, Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap, he had always wanted to return to Hindi movies but was very busy down South.

Charmme Kaur, once a star down South, smiled and stated that her acting career was history now and she was enjoying her innings as producer alongside Puri. She stated that Vijay told her that she had found her true calling in this field. In Hindi, Charmme is best known for her role in Puri Jagannadh’s Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap (2011), featuring Amitabh Bachchan—this actress of 40 films has also made cameos in YRF’s Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Zilla Ghaziabad and in the chartbuster Gandi baat with Shahid Kapoor in R…Rajkumar. She thanked Karan Johar for his support to their next film, Liger, releasing on August 25, 2022. She also revealed that Puri had told her that he would also like to do more and more films with Vijay.

Vijay Devarakonda said, “I am supremely excited, as it is one of the most striking and challenging scripts. The story is special and it will touch every Indian. I am honored to be a part of Puri’s dream project. I am looking forward to working with Charmme and her team. My character in JGM is refreshing, something that I haven’t done earlier, and I am sure it will leave an impact on the audiences.”

Vijay, dressed in Army uniform (the event was held at the sprawling Mahalaxmi Turf Club in Mumbai so that the actor could land in a chopper for the event!), won the hearts of the media when he attempted to speak in Hindi and warned in advance that he could get the genders wrong!

After Pushpa—The Rise and RRR in particular, Vijay stated that national, as in pan-Indian, cinema is the way forward. He was super-confident about Liger and stated that the only reason Hollywood films had bigger scale and budgets was because they had greater audiences worldwide. He did not think that the actors there were necessarily better or more talented than Indian ones.

He stated that such cinema was the need of the hour, though regional movies would always have their niche, adding, “Hollywood is doing business in cinema with China and they will come knocking at our doors too if we make more pan-Indian movies.” He stated that Bahubali has been the take-off point for such films.

Recalling his stint with Mike Tyson, who is doing a role in Liger, he quipped, “I was happy that Mike punched me and I remained erect!” stating that Tyson was among the few luminaries who are known all over the world, like Bruce Lee.

Producer Vamshi Paidipally of Srikara Studio said, “It gives us immense pleasure in collaborating with Vijay Deverakonda, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur on this prestigious project. We at Srikara Studios are confident that this film will tap into the conscience of every Indian.” Vamshi has himself been a top director and stated that working with Puri was a great experience.

JGM is a Puri Connect & Srikara Studio production by Charmme Kaur, Vamshi Paidipally and Singa Rao, director of Srikara Studio, who was also present. Shooting will commence in April 2022 and the film will be shot across multiple international locations.
