Loved by people across the world in theatres, Baipan Bhaari Deva is a blend of family drama, laughter and tears. This entertaining watch unfolds the story of six estranged sisters forced to reunite for a Mangalagaur (a Maharashtrian festival for married women) competition, wondering if they can conquer their past and confront their struggles.

Produced by Madhuri Bhosale, written by Vaishali Naik and directed by Kedar Shinde, Baipan Bhaari Deva features a stellar ensemble with Rohini Hattangadi, Vandana Gupte, Sukanya Kulkarni, Shilpa Navalkar and Suchitra Bandekar as the five sisters in a rollercoaster of fun and emotions.

Director Kedar Shinde said, “Directing Baipan Bhaari Deva was truly a remarkable experience that holds a special place in my heart. With the film now on Disney+Hotstar, I can’t wait to see the magic of Baipan Bhaari Deva reach a wider audience and transcend linguistic boundaries. Drawing emotions from the real women in my life made this film more relatable to families with its feel-good drama. The film stands as an ode to sisterhood and received immense love from audiences. Tailored for today’s progressive audience, the film reflects the evolving needs of our times.”

Critically-acclaimed actress Rohini Hattangady, who essays the role of Jaya in Baipan Bhaari Deva, stated, “Portraying the character of Jaya has been a uniquely special experience for me. Among the many dramas I’ve been a part of, Baipan Bhaari Deva holds a special place. I relate to this story on a personal level, and the bond with my co-actors has transformed into a sisterhood. I see myself as one of the characters at some point or another in the film. Kedar’s brilliance in bringing us together is undeniable and the chemistry, characters and dialogues have all clicked perfectly.”

Suchitra Bandekar, who plays the role of Pallavi, added, “Taking on the role of Pallavi was a novel journey for me. She’s not just fun, she’s flamboyant, cool and easily everyone’s favorite. Playing Pallavi taught me valuable lessons. Navigating through challenges with a cool demeanor is truly commendable, and I’ve gained a new appreciation for that. I believe audiences will experience a refreshing wave of energy through Pallavi’s character and I’m so glad the movie will reach a much wider audience now.”

Vandana Gupte, who plays Shashi, declared, “Baipan Bhaari Deva is like a genuine slice of life on screen. It’s real and relatable. You will connect with it on a deeper level. Shashi is a soul you will resonate with, understanding her actions and finding bits of yourself in her. It’s more than just a movie, it’s a reflection of life.“

The film has set a box-office record in Marathi cinema. No cinema other than Hindi and South Indian so far has been able to cross the 100 crore mark. In Marathi, the highest-grossing film so far has been the 2016 Sairat with Rs. 110 crore worldwide gross. Baipan… nears with a total of Rs. 90.5 crore, with a nett Indian collection of Rs. 76.28 crore on a production budget of a mere Rs. 7 crore!

What’s more, the film has no male lead and all five “sisters” are of variable age, with none being a top star!
