Long Island, N.Y. organizers of the India Day Parade announced plans to raise awareness about their 11th annual India Day Parade in Hicksville, N.Y. slated for this August.

A Curtain Raiser on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, is scheduled to announce “Long Island’s biggest India Day Parade that showcases India’s heritage and culture and Indian Americans’ achievements,” a press release said.

At the curtain raiser at Nassau County Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola, NY, the India Day Parade, IDP, team will reveal details of the parade of August 7, 2022, starting from Patel Brothers on South Broadway in Hicksville.

Since this is the 75th landmark year of India’s Independence, the parade and accompanying events will celebrate the Indian government’s initiative, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, “in ways that promise to surpass the previous parades and attract participation by thousands more people, both South Asians and Americans,” organizers said.

The parade will be led by film stars, entertainers and dignitaries. The parade will culminate at the fairground across from Asa Mai Temple, where the electrifying atmosphere replete with entertainment stage and food and goodies stalls will welcome the crowds. Children’s carnival and games area will be free.
