The much talked-about chat show Koffee With Karan is back with an all-new season 7. As the first episode featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt was dropped last week, the show streaming on Disney+ Hotstar stands tall at #1 with 12.2M views on the list of Top 5 Most Viewed Hindi streaming shows in India.

Topping the chart, Koffee With Karan 7 has surpassed other shows like Ranveer Vs Wild with Bear Grylls – 6.7 million (Netflix), Aashiqana – 4.6 million (Disney+ Hotstar), Miya Biwi Aur Murder – 4 million (MX Player), and Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd – 3.7 million (ZEE5).

The Dharmatic Entertainment production  will air a new episode every Thursday. Its second episode will feature Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. The two also talk about their romantic inclinations, with Jahnvi talking about her “ex”, Kartik Aaryan, and Sara about her crush on Vijay Deverekonda.

“I call this couch the couch of manifestation,” host Karan Johar told India Today, a section of the Mumbai media.  “I was like telling Kriti (Sanon) the other day, I said just say a name! Because Katrina (Kaif) on this couch said that she thought she would look good with Vicky (Kaushal), then Vicky collapsed and then the next thing we know is that they are married. Sara (Ali Khan) mentioned Kartik (Aaryan) and they started dating. Alia (Bhatt) has mentioned Ranbir (Kapoor) season after season and she is married to him today and is going to have his beautiful baby. So it’s fantastic that this couch has actually manifested so many relationships.”

The inaugural show saw Ranveer in a literally starry apparel and incredibly speaking lesser than the nineteen-to-the-dozen Alia Bhatt. They were introduced as “two happily-married individuals, but not to each other!” Ranveer was a scream as he mimicked Dharmendra and Karan and Alia tried to out-laugh each other as he also imitated Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn.

Alia’s long talk about how she has beautifully adapted to the Kapoor family culture was a highlight, and she was quicker on the buzzer than her Gully Boy-cum-Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-star in the subsequent buzzer rounds. But the best part of the show was the story of how Ranveer and Alia have become fast friends enough to call each other sakhi.

And I did not quite figure out why those who judged the Rapid Fire contest between the two were all girls. Seems like brazen partisanship towards Ranveer for winning the famous Koffee With Karan gift hamper!

The show retains its great-entertainment-with-insider-glimpses quotient but the new additions to it could have been better. IMHO!
