As he puts it, “Amritsar ki galiyon se Mumbai ke sets tak (From the streets of Amritsar to the sets of Mumbai)”: Kapil Sharma has been entertaining us for a long while now, but he is not done yet!

The favorite comedian is set to tickle funny bones, this time on Netflix, with his first comedy special marking his streaming debut, Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet, releasing January 28. The show reveals Kapil in a never-before-seen avatar, straight from his heart!

Kapil gets candid about his life’s journey and shares it all in his own fun and relatable way on Netflix, with its 214 million paid memberships in over 190 countries.

In the vlog to promote this series with a difference, Kapil says first that he is done with English and then let’s you on to the fact that he has sung an English song in it! Stating that he is now in the entertainment business for 25 years, he has affirmed his TV standing of over 15 years. Incidentally, he started out doing serious theater in college!

In a way that would sound very calculated for lesser talents, the comedy king of Indian non-fiction TV pragmatically says that he never expected to make a profession out of his jokes, because “joking around” is what an average Punjabi always does. The highest-paid comic quips, “I never knew that I would be paid for it!”

Victory seems to be the middle-name of this young man who featured in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and won the Comedy Circus competition effortlessly, and went from one comic high to another throughout. Next up was his signature show Comedy Nights With Kapil that crossed over 200 shows on television in a little over two years, and was staged live worldwide (including the US) to tremendous acclaim.

Kapil then made his film debut with an Abbas-Mustan comedy, Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon, which opened at the highest figure then for any newcomer—Rs. 7.5 crore in India, with a first week collection bigger than that of Ranbir Kapoor’s Roy and Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink! The film was a “clean” hit—that is, it made money for everyone down the chain—theatre owners, distributors and the producers. And it hd little to recommend in it other than Kapil himself!

Kapil then starred in his home production (and serious role) in Firangi, a fiasco, and then came his Hindi voice-over for Red in Angry Birds 2. After his show wound up due to some controversies with him, he resurfaced triumphantly on the channel with a new avatar and cosmetic changes in format with The Kapil Sharma Show, now a phenomenon in the entertainment industry.

Truth be told, Kapil is the only comic who has kept the laughs coming for decades on television. Except for his, no non-fiction fun show has made any mark!
