The Indo-American Democratic Organization (IADO) announced June 2, 2022, it is endorsing Judge Elizabeth Rochford for the Illinois Supreme Court’s Second District.

With the aim of representing South Asian-Americans in Illinois, IADO has advocated for policies in their favor and to increase their participation in the political process for more than 40 years, a press release from the organization said.

“The endorsement builds on Judge Rochford’s broad coalition of support, which includes major labor unions, respected elected officials, current and former state legislators, and pro-choice legislative leaders,” IADO said.

“As Supreme Court Justice, I will remain committed as I have been for the past two decades to expanding access to justice and increasing diversity in our courts to create a better system for all Illinoisans,” Judge Rochford is quoted saying, adding that it was an honor to receive the IADO endorsement.

The Illinois State Bar Association has rated Judge Rochford as “highly recommended” and the only candidate to be so recommended among the candidates vying for the position.

Judge Rochford has also been endorsed by nearly every major labor union, including among others, the Illinois State AFL-CIO, Local 881 UFCW, Plumbers Local Union 130 United Association (UA), and the Lake County and McHenry County Building & Construction Trades Councils and their affiliates, etc.

The newly redrawn second Supreme Court District encompasses DeKalb, Kendall, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. To learn more, visit judgerochfordforsupremecourt.com.
