Indian Seniors of Chicago celebrates India’s Republic Day and Ram Rath Shobha Yatra

A group of seniors of the Indian community organization, Indian Seniors of Chicago, got together at Manav Seva Mandir in Bensenville, near Chicago, on Jan. 27, 2023, to celebrate 2 events, the Republic Day of India and the Shobha Yatra of Ram Rath.

Members’ birthdays were celebrated and new members were introduced and felicitated.

Members of ISC dressed as leaders of India and characters from Ramayana. Bipin Shah dressed as India’s national flag bearer, Jyotsna Shah as Bharat Mata, Shiva Patel as Gandhiji, Saroj Patel as Sushma Swaraj, Ramesh Patel as Adityanath Yogi and Nalin and Chandrika Shah as Gujarati Nagar Seth.

The Ram Rath (chariot) was led by Group President Narsinh Patel. Vinu Darji and Geeta Suthar and other members took part in the Ram Rath procession.

Bhupendra Suthar who has an Indian National Cadet Corps certificate and the rank of Lieutenant, lead the Republic Day celebrations. Group presidents was invited to unfurl the Indian National flag followed by singing of national anthem.

Pushpa Parekh sang the patriotic song, ‘Ai Mere Vatan ke Logon’.
