Indian consulate, community in Chicago hold PBD promotional event

Close to 300 people attended the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas promotional event at the Indian Consulate in Chicago recently.

The event was organized jointly by the Consulate along with the Indian American Business Coalition (IABC), Friends of MP (Madhya Pradesh) and other Indian diaspora organizations.

Some of the attendees registered on the spot for PBD, the Consulate said in a press release Dec. 11, 2022. The Pravasi Divas is scheduled to be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh   January 8-10, 2023.

Consul General Somnath Ghosh, in his remarks, urged members of the Indian diaspora to visit India for the PBD to discuss and participate in nation building. He appreciated the efforts of Indian American Business Coalition and other organizations who took the lead to build the largest ever delegation from Chicago to PBD.

The Mayor of Indore Pushyamitra Bhargav, and former Mayor of that city Kailash Vijayvargiya, addressed the gathering online from Indore inviting the Indian diaspora for the PBD.

Leading community members who spoke at the event included Dr. Bharat Barai, IABC; Event Chair Ajeet Singh, Event co-chair Vinesh Virani; Dr. Sreenivas Reddy, chair of the Illinois Medical Board; leading cardiologist Dr. Vemuri S. Murthy;   Sunil Shah, Federation of Indian Associations leader; Amarbir Ghoman from Hotel Marriott; and Keerthi Ravoori.
