The diaspora of Madhya Pradesh in the Tristate area – known as Friends of MP (FMP) NYNJ – celebrated Welcome 2021 ‘ZOOM DHOOM’ in a video conferencing event on Dec. 19.
The 3.5-hour event had the diaspora from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania attending it. Focused on highlighting the talent of the youth and kids of the community, the event had dance, musical and gymnastic performances by the children.
Chief Minister of MP Shivraj Singh Chouhan sent a video message conveying best wishes of the state to FMP in the USA. He recalled how the organization from its start in 2015 has grown in size and stature, and has contributed in the progress and investments in MP.
Counsel General of India in New York Randhir Jaiswal also attended the event. He complemented the Youth of Friends of MP for their creativity and talent. Counsel Community Affairs Vijay Krishna also attended the Event. He requested the Community members to adhere to Health Precautions.
Using many features of the virtual platform, Zoom Dhoom had polling, break out rooms, multiple spotlights, Bollywood jeopardy, Christmas tree contest – all of which kept the participants engaged. The event ended with a live dhol performance by Rohan and DJ performance by CP and Rekha Heda, which had the participants dancing in their homes.
Zoom Dhoom was put together by volunteer efforts of families of Jitendra Muchhal, Raj Bansal, Rajesh Mittal, Sandeep Jain, Anupam Sarwaikar, Ajit Jain, Ashish Shukla, Sameep Agarwal, Sumedh Karnik and many others.
Due to the pandemic restrictions, FMP NYNJ could not hold their signature Annual Summer Picnic in 2020. They had multiple virtual programs during the year on health, business outlook, and culture to keep the community well connected.
