Federation of Indian Associations Chicago-1980 swears in new leadership

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago-1980, announced its new President, Nitin Patel, and the Executive Committee for the 2024 term at an event held at the Holiday Inn, Elk Grove Village, IL.

A Deep Pragatya (Diya Lamp Lighting Ceremony), considered auspicious by organizers, began the event and was led by Consul General of India in Chicago Somnath Ghosh.

The event also featured an engaging discussion on the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), where Consul General Ghosh addressed various questions and concerns from the Indian community. The interactive session was highly appreciated by attendees, a press release from FIA Chicago-1980 said.

Nitin Patel, who served as the Executive Vice President during the 2023 term under the leadership of Dr. Rashmi Patel, has pledged to continue supporting the Indian diaspora by facilitating immigration services and celebrating the community’s vibrant heritage with events like Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations.

The Oath Ceremony formally welcomed the 2024 Executive Committee, including Roshan Patel as the Executive Vice President, and Vice Presidents Anil Singh, Dipal Patel, and Narshi Patel. Also sworn in was Paras Kayastha as the Treasurer. Kruti Pandya continues in her role as the Secretary, and Chhaya Patel joined as the Joint Secretary.

The Executive Committee consists of individuals who bring different strengths and strive to bring FIA Chicago to new heights by going above and beyond in making Indian history in the Chicagoland area.

The new president, Nitin Patel, thanked the outgoing president, Dr. Rashmi Patel, and acknowledged the support from the trustees and all associated members.

Nitin Patel outlined his goals for the upcoming term, and highlighted his goals which included expansion of FIA Chicago: Strengthening the organization by bringing more members of the Indian diaspora under the FIA Chicago umbrella; community service: Organizing more events like OCI camps and educational programs to address the community’s needs; cultural celebrations: Promoting Indian cultural events to celebrate the diversity within the community; unity and cooperation: Fostering unity within the association and working together for the upliftment of all members of the Indian American community.
