EDISON, NJ — Edison Councilman and Mayoral candidate Sam Joshi is calling for an open primary in the June election after a tape was released which allegedly connects Mahesh Bhagia to a 2017 racist flyer that made global headlines.

Joshi said the allegedly detailed and damaging evidence against Bhagia and lack of testimony before the Investigative Committee has been appalling. The county line should not be awarded to someone whose lack of morality stands in sharp contrast to the values of the Democratic Party, Joshi said.

Joshi mentioned in his press release, I am joining the chorus of voices from throughout our community that wants to see an open primary election. I believe that Chairman McCabe and the Middlesex Democratic County Organization should seriously consider removing Mr. Bhagia from the county line. It was revealed that he played a key role in a racist flyer that shook our town in 2017. Mahesh Bhagia has been dishonest about this disgusting incident since 2017 and it would be damaging to our Democratic Party to allow him to be on the MCDO line.”
