Democratic Rep. Krishnamoorthi condemns Trump’s “False And Racist” “Birther” claims against Haley

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement January 18, 2024, in response to former President Donald Trump’s promotion of “birther” claims that Nikki Haley might be ineligible to serve as US President despite her being a natural-born American citizen:

“It’s sadly no surprise that Donald Trump is back at it with more false and racist ‘birther’ claims. As a proud Indian American immigrant, the hateful attacks the former president is launching against Nikki Haley are all too familiar to me. Any Republican who claims to support the South Asian community should condemn this rhetoric.”

On his X (Twitter) account, Krishnamoorthi went on to say, “The racists comments made by @realDonaldTrump about @NikkiHaley’s name and citizenship have no place in our country. I won’t hold my breath for an apology from the former president, but I do call on my Republican colleagues to denounce this hateful and reprehensible rhetoric.”
