The Shehzada and the Rocky… filmmaker have buried the hatchet. Oh, well, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…! Happily, Khushi this time!

In another welcome news after Salman Khan’s recent patch-up with Arijit Singh, Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan have buried their (happily) short-lived hatchet. For Karan, as we all know, this is his third rapprochement with a K personality—he had had differences with Kajol and Kareena Kapoor Khan earlier. Kartik too has had his share of reported spats, but they have all been more of buzzes than facts.

And what better than a new film to make peace? In association with Shobha and Ektaa R. Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms, Karan’s Dharma Productions has announced a new film that will release on Independence Day, 2025—and it will star Kartik Aaryan.

Making it even more special was the fact that Karan announced the project on Kartik’s 33rd birthday on November 22, and even attended his birthday bash.

Karan wrote, “Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day!! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies & @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented Sandeep Modi. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025!!!! Kartik, happy birthday to you…may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen. @ektarkapoor, being your friend is easily the best thing and now working with you will be no different!!!”

Kartik responded to this with a heart emoji.

The official social media handles of Dharma Productions announced, “Lights, camera and… surprise! (clap board emoji) We are thrilled to announce a new story brewing that has found a home with Dharma Productions and Balaji Telefilms. Starring Kartik Aaryan and directed by Sandeep Modi, this yet to be titled film will be released on 15th August, 2025. Stay tuned!”

Differences between the two had crept up after Kartik backed out of Dostana 2 as he did not like the script. Both later denied any ‘rift’ and Karan had stated that they would work again on a different subject. For what it is worth, Dostana 2 has yet to take off, and no one has any idea when it will do so.

Incidentally Sandeep Modi is the man who has directed the web series, The Night Manager.
