Akshaya Patra Foundation USA’s Tri-state Volunteer Chapter raised more than $40,000 at its 2023 Golf outing event June 4, 2023, a sold-out event to help with mid-day meals for underprivileged children in schools in India.

More than 80 sponsors, donors and participants took to the green for  teeing off at the Royce Brook Golf Club, Hillsborough, NJ launching an exciting day of friendly competition and camaraderie, a press release from Akshaya Patra Foundation said, highlighting their commitment to Akshaya Patra’s mission – “No child in India should be deprived of education because of hunger”.

“We are very happy to support Akshaya Patra because it offers an opportunity to the children of underprivileged society to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families,” event sponsor Nayan Parikh is quoted saying in the press release.

“We are humbled and grateful for the tremendous support shown at our Annual Charity Golf Outing,” said Dr. Anand Kulkarni, Chapter Chair for Akshaya Patra Tri State team, who thanked supporters and participants, as well as the South Asian Golf Association (SAGA) which “made this event a tremendous success.”

In addition to raising funds for a worthy cause, the Annual Charity Golf Outing also served as a platform for networking and community building.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation says it is the world’s largest NGO-run school meal program and serves over 2.5 million school children in over 20,000 government schools from 67 kitchen facilities in 14 states and 2 union territories across India. Akshaya Patra USA is the US branch of Akshaya Patra and raises funds and awareness for the government school midday meal program in India.
