AAPI’s 39th Annual Convention In Atlanta To Be a Tribute to Covid Warriors

The 39th Annual AAPI Convention & Scientific Assembly to be held from July 2 to 5, 2021 at the Omni Atlanta at CNN Center and Georgia World Congress Center will be a tribute to those who have lost their lives, and to the frontline medical professionals combating the pandemic around the globe, said the President of the American  Association of Physicians of Indian Origin Dr. Sudhakar Jonnalagadda.

The deadly Corona virus has claimed millions of lives around the world with the US leading the chart with over 600,000 deaths, notes the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). The pandemic has placed the entire healthcare sector, and in particular the Indian American medical fraternity at the frontlines of the fight against the pandemic, the organization said in a press release.

Dr. Sreeni Gangasani, chairman, co-founder, eGlobalDoctors and chair, AAPI Convention 2021 said, “We invite physicians of Indian origin to join the AAPI community as we celebrate the victory of science over calamity while paying tribute to all the fallen healthcare workers including some from AAPI family.”

“We also want to show the world that we can start socializing with precautions once you are vaccinated,” he added.

The annual convention offers extensive academic presentations, recognition of achievements and achievers, and professional networking at the alumni and evening social events.

The delegates at the convention will have 8 hours of Continuing Medical Education seminars coordinated by AAPI CME Chair, Dr. Krishan Kumar, Dr. Vemuri Murthy, Advisor & CME Program Director, and Convention CME Chair Dr. Sudha Tata.

Themes covered by CMEs would focus on self care, finding satisfaction and happiness in challenging situations said Dr. Raghu Lolabhattu, Convention Vice Chair.

Popular Bollywood stars, Mallika Sherawat and Pooja Batra will be the star attractions at the Convention. Sherawat will be part of the Women’s Forum, led by Drs. Anjana Samadhar, Uma jonnalagadda, and Udaya Shivangi, and will feature Mayor of Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottoms, Dr. Swati Kulkarni, India’s Consul General in Atlanta, Dr. Susan Bailey, president of American Medical Association, Dr. Renu Khator, president and chancellor of University of Houston; Adv. Sheela Murthy, founder and president of Murthy Law Firm; Prof. Amita Sehgal, Professor of Neuroscience at UPENN, Dr. Nahid Bhadella, director of Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy & Reasearch; and, Dr. Mona Khanna, Emmy award winning journalist.

An exciting Bollywood Hungama Dhum Dhama Dhum will feature popular stars Kosha Pandya, Rex D’Souza and Shilpi Paul. Talented artists Vidya Vox and Ravi Drums will lead the cultural programs. Traditional Dandiya Raas will be led by AAPI’s own Garba King, Dr. Dhiren Buch with live music by Aradhana Music Group of Los Angeles.

A Fashion Show by talented local artists choreographed  renowned fashion designer Ghazala Khan is part of the entertainment.

With the purpose of engaging and providing a meaningful experience to non-physician spouses, AAPI is hosting “Learn with Shiva and Team” from the Shiv Institute of Dance where they bring “dance to Life” on How To Do HIP HOP AND SALSA BOLLYWOOD STYLE.”

They will also have a unique experience with Popular Chef Ashok Selvaraj, who will demonstrate and participants can cook with him, while he shares the “cocktail secrets and dareel Favers.”

A totally new feature at the Convention is the RealAssets Webinar on Crypto Currencies on June 26th, featuring blockchain & cryptocurrency experts, who will throw light on the paradigm shift taking place from regular finance to blockchain based cryptocurrencies, platforms & ecosystems.

Sri Dananpani, a well-known Hindu priest, entrepreneur and a former monk, will be among the speakers.

The popular and much loved Mehfil E Khaas will give the AAPI members and families a platform to showcase their talents impromptu, in music, dance, jokes and Shero Shayari in an informal setting.

“The Future of Healthcare” will be discussed at the popular CEO Forum with expert participants from healthcare, technology, and finance industries and moderated by Dr. N. Neealagaru.
