The New York City South Asian Film Festival scheduled for the Oct. 22, 2021 weekend, showcase 22 shorts, documentaries and feature films over a span of three days Oct. 22-24, at the Helen Mills Event Space & Theater in Chelsea (137-139 West 26th St, between 6th and 7th Avenues), in the Big Apple.

Presented for the second time by Toyota North America, the festival boasts 4 world premieres, 7 North American premieres and 11 New York premieres, an Oct. 20, press release from organizers said.

“For our first physical festival post-pandemic, we were especially selective about finding stories that would lift spirits and provide inspiration,” SAFF’s Festival Director Jitin Hingorani is quoted saying in the press release.

“For a year and a half now, festival-goers have been consuming cinema-worthy content on their laptops and cell phones. We needed to program the kind of films that would GIVE them a reason to leave their homes and join us in the theaters again,” Hingorani added.

All COVID guidelines, including requiring vaccination cards and face masks, are being followed while at the festival.

The list of films to be screened as provided by organizers include:
