Yoga Day Celebration Held by Indo American Group in Edison

Edison, NJ – June 14, 2025 — Over 300 yoga enthusiasts gathered at the Sheraton Hotel in Edison on June 14 to celebrate International Yoga Day, in an event organized by the Indo American Cultural Association of Edison under the leadership of Nitin Vyas. Held in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York and supported by numerous Indo American organizations, the event continued as planned despite heavy rain, demonstrating the community’s deep commitment to the practice and philosophy of yoga.

The program began with opening remarks by coordinator Nitin Vyas and was officially inaugurated by Deputy Consul General Vishal Harsh, who lit the ceremonial lamp and spoke about yoga’s role in promoting holistic well-being and harmony. Participants then took part in a series of guided sessions led by experienced yoga instructors and wellness practitioners. Guru Dileepji and Mark Becker delivered thought-provoking talks, while Poonam Gupta energized the crowd with Laughter Yoga. Radhikaji led both Dance Yoga and a session of Physical Yoga through DevisYogaFlow, and Priti Ji offered a session in Functional Yoga representing The Yoga Lotus. Geeta Ji from RadiantRays Yoga contributed another Physical Yoga session, and Vijay Trivedi conducted a deep meditation based on Siddha Samadhi Yoga. Nidhi Ji from the IFM Group guided a session on Pranayama, while Raj Kumar Gupta Ji led a Dharna session from Vihangam Yog, and Suniti Ramanujam represented the Isha Foundation with a closing meditation.

A number of prominent community leaders and dignitaries attended the celebration, including Krishnakant Sangani, H.K. Shah, Mukund Thakkar, Uma Swaminathan, Hemant Patel, Suchitra Kamath, Jassi Singh, Bipin Parekh, Subhash Shah, Ajay Gandhi, Dr. Gunjan Shukla, Dr. Mukesh Solanki, Mahesh Wani, Nalin Shah, Mehul Shah, Pravin Patel, Mukund Parikh, and Amin Saab, all of whom lent their support to the occasion. Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared vegan lunch, while a special breakfast was served to VIPs, aligning with the day’s emphasis on health, nutrition, and mindfulness.

The event was hosted by Rajshree Kotekar from the Isha Foundation and Vijay Ji from Vihangam Yoga, who kept the sessions on track and flowing smoothly from start to finish. Activities ran from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and were supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, including Naresh Shah, Manish Parikh, Nina Vyas, Raju, and Haresh Bhai, along with active teams from both the Isha Foundation and Vihangam Yoga.
