Mydream Entertainment, a New Jersey based entertainment company founded by Rashmi and Janak Bedi, recently partnered with T-Series StageWorks Academy to organize an online singing workshop and competition called ‘Singing Superstar’, according to a press release from the organizers.
The virtual event, which consisted of more than 120 participants from all over the world started with a 5-day workshop.
Students learnt singing techniques from Bollywood singers and music gurus Kshitij Mathur, Jyoti Zibbu, Ghulam Hasan Khan, Nitesh Singh, and renowned music director Sanjay Vidyarthi, said the release.
After the workshop, a singing battle round was conducted where 34 semifinalists were chosen. Twelve contestants moved on to the finale that took place on Feb. 7, 2021, where T-Series StageWorks Academy Board Director and Indian playback singer Tulsi Kumar was the special guest and jury, according to the press release.
Kunjita Vijan, winner Mrs. South Asia World 2020 hosted the event.
Vidyarthi served as another jury whereas and Deepti Trivedi, vice president of T-Series educational wing was another special guest.
Dr. Simran Sethi Ankola was announced as the winner of Singing Superstar, and received $1000 cash prize and a song recording on T-Series Pop Chartbuster YouTube channel.
Karthik Krishna Jayaram was the first runner up and received a song recording on T-Series Pop Chartbuster YouTube channel. Nalini Krishnan was second runner up and received a song recording on T-Series Bhakti Sagar YouTube channel.
In addition, the jury awarded four additional finalists recordings through T-Series Stageworks academy YouTube channel.
