A tycoon father (owner of Saravana Stores, one of the largest business retail chains in India) has launched his eager and enthusiastic son, ‘Legend’ Saravanan, as actor in a mammoth action spectacle of a film, Dr. S. The Legend. A grand event was held July 22 at the Hotel J.W. Marriott to celebrate the occasion. Urvashi Rautela, Raai Laxmi, Gurpreet Kaur Chadha, Shibani Kashyap and Prashant Virendra Sharma were in attendance along with director duo JD-Jerry.

The trailer clearly showed the no holds-barred commercial approach of the film, which mixes a scientist’s story with incredible action against the nation’s enemies and spectacular songs, four of which were shown on the occasion along with the trailer. Director JD kept on saying that the core message of the film was the vital asset where the film will score, as it is being released July 28 in its base language Tamil as well as Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam.

The star cast also includes Urvashi Rautela, Geethika, Pugazh, late Vivek, Yogi Babu, Vamsi Krishna Vijayakumar, Prabhu, Nasser, Suman, Thambi Ramaiah, Robo Shankar, Mayilsamy, Harish Paredi, Muniskanth, Mansoor Ali Khan, Rahul Dev, Livingston, Vamsi Krishna, Singampuli, Lollu Saba Manohar, Amuthavanan, KPY Yogi, Cell Murugan, Latha, Sachu, Purnima Bhagyaraj, Geethika, Devadarshini, Ayira, Deepa Shankar, Master Ashwanth and others.

Cinematography by R. Velraj, editing by Ruben, dialogues by Pattukottai Prabhakar and stunt choreography by Anal Arasu are other credits. Raju Sundaram, Brinda and Dinesh have done the choreography. The songs are composed by Harris Jayaraj and the film is termed “A Harrys Jayaraj musical”.

Harris, a big name down South, has earlier done Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein in Hindi in 2001, whose music had been quite popular.

Overwhelmed with the response to the trailer, Legend Saravanan said, “Dr. S. The Legend marks my debut in films, and what better than a full-blown masala entertainer for it?”

He declared that both business and films both needed hard work, and said that determination was the key to success. Leading lady Urvashi Rautela, who, given the slightest chance, went on to meander and talk a lot about her own achievements (including irrelevant details like her school graduation percentage and what she is doing internationally!), said that Saravanan exuded the kind of confidence that was rarely seen in debut-making actors.

Newsindiatimes.com wanted to know from the director-duo about how they shared their work (one had been an actor, the other a choreographer) but just at that moment, the anchor decided to end the Q-and-A!

The highlight of the event was the rip-roaring long entertainment act by The Kapil Sharma Show stalwarts Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Rajiv Thakur. They brought the house down with their wit. The show, anyway, is temporarily off air (“Kapil is in Vancouver right now!” informed Kiku) and the trio also had a ball.
