Though their first movie together was only a decade ago, Salman Khan has always been special for Yash Raj Films, for all their films together (Ek Tha Tiger, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai) have been blockbusters. Salman also was the first choice for Chak De! India but had turned down the film for reasons unknown.

The Mumbai tabloid Mid-Day now reports that Salman “personally” requested producer Aditya Chopra to postpone the release of Tiger 3, the third film in the franchise, to Diwali 2023, though it was originally slated for an Eid release. Salman told him that Eid has been normally booked for a home production (YRF’s Ek Tha Tiger did release on that date in 2012) and Adi (as he is known) agreed to postpone the release.

The film that will now come on Eid will be Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, a home production of the actor. The action comedy, directed by Farhad Samji and written by Sajid Nadiadwala, stars Salman Khan, Venkatesh (who makes a comeback to Hindi cinema after Anari and Taqdeerwala in the early 1990s), Pooja Hegde and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles. Tanishk Bagchi, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Devi Sri Prasad and Lijo George-DJ Chetas score music—Salman has rarely gone in for multiple music directors, as he mostly prefers solo composers, with or without someone’s additional song.

Adi is not known to kowtow to star whims but has always made an exception for Salman, who, incidentally, is said to have stepped out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah for the same reason. The same report adds that unlike all other big names who work for YRF at the rates offered by the banner (which are much less than their market price), Salman got his full price for Ek Tha Tiger.

Tiger 3, which co-stars Katrina Kaif, with reportedly Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan in cameos, is directed by Maneesh Sharma with music by Pritam, who told me that there were only three songs in the espionage drama.

Salman’s other assignments include a cameo in Pathaan as Tiger again, a film also produced by Aditya Chopra, a cameo in friend Riteish Deshmukh’s directorial debut in Marathi, Ved, as himself and, recently, he did an extended cameo in the Telugu film, Godfather, starring Chiranjeevi.
