Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss and starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, is being eagerly awaited. While the teaser has given a glimpse into its action-packed world, its songs composed by Pritam have also picked up. As the Sikandar fever continues to grip the masses, it has now taken over Kabaddi Team India and Team USA, with the makers announcing their association with the Kabaddi World Cup 2025.

The USA Kabaddi Association, along with the makers of Sikandar, took to social media to share a video showcasing the teams drenched in the fever of the film. They captioned the post “Kabaddi World Cup ke Sikandar: Team India & Team USA… Powered by SIKANDAR…Bas Mudne ki der hai. We are extremely thrilled to announce our proud association with the most awaited blockbuster of 2025-SIKANDAR #sikandareid2025 Heartfelt gratitude to Mr.Salman Khan, Mr. Sajid Nadiadwala and Team Sikandar for their support @beingsalmankhan In #Sajid Nadiadwala’s #Sikandar Directed by @a.r.murugadoss”

As Sikandar builds momentum, the curiosity and anticipation continue to skyrocket. Salman Khan will be returning to the big screen during Eid 2025 alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film promises an explosive cinematic experience with plenty more surprises still to come.

The Salman Khan-Eid connection

This actually began with Judwaa in 1997. But the hype about the Salman Khan Eid release began after Wanted in 2009, when the film caught on after he had had a chain of flops. Interestingly, Wanted, it was then said, would have had greater collections had it not released just before (on September 18) Eid, which fell on September 20, as his Muslim fans did not watch the film on the actual, festive day.

However, when the film ended Salman’s dry run by becoming a Silver Jubilee (25 week theatrical run), the industry as well as Salman chose to also release his home production, Dabangg during Eid the following year. The film became a blockbuster musical action drama and his first film to gross 100 crore when Aamir Khan had already had two back-to-back such films in Ghajini and 3 Idiots.

And so began the deluge: Bodyguard, again a home production in 2011, Ek Tha Tiger, his first of many associations with Yash Raj Films, Kick in 2014, his first Eid offering produced (and also directed by Sajid Nadiadwala) and Salman’s own production, Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015.

If 2013 was missing, it was because Salman had no release that year! And Shah Rukh Khan seized the date to release Chennai Express, again a major hit.

2016 followed with Salman’s second Yash Raj connection, Sultan, 2017 with Tubelight (once again a home production), 2018 with Race 3 and 2019 Bharat, both home productions. However, the magic had ebbed despite all these films crossing 100 crore thanks to Salman’s loyal fans. The first film did not recover its budget and thus at the ROI (return on investment) level was a flop, while the other two made for tepid success.

Things became worse in the lockdown year 2020. Radhe—Your Most Wanted Bhai (a home production yet again!) was planned as an Eid release but all the theatres were shut! It released in the following year on Eid, partly as a paid view on Zee and partly in movie halls that had opened with restricted viewing.

In 2022, there was no Salman film again: Runway 34 (Ajay Devgn) and Heropanti 2 (Tiger Shroff) came and fizzed out, though Runway 34 did good business later on OTT. Heropanti too was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala again. In 2023, after four years, Salman was back with his home production, Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ki Jaan. Once again, the film crossed the 100 crore mark but failed at the box-office. Last year, Salman’s only releases were Pathaan on Republic Day in a cameo, and Tiger 3 in Diwali, but the Eid release was the disaster that was Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

And so, it is very important for the star and his fans that 2025 revitalizes the Salman-Eid connection.
