New mayor and trustee elected to the village of Lincolnwood, Illinois

Lincolnwood village in Cook County, IL recently elected its first Indian-American mayor, Jesal Patel and trustee Mohammed Saleem. They were sworn in to the office on May 4, 2021.

Patel has lived in Lincolnwood since he was just four and attended the district 74 schools and grew up working as a caddy at the Bryn Mawr country club.

He has been a trustee in Lincolnwood since 2007 and has served as board liaison to multiple village committees and boards while also serving as chairman of the finance committee and the committee on ordinances, rules, and buildings.

Patel has also been selected to serve as a volunteer advocate for shopping centers and hotel industries. In his role, he visits Springfield and Washington several times per year to meet with state and federal legislators to provide local perspective to the lawmaking process.

He is a graduate of Indiana University’s business school with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance-real estate. Patel has been with his wife Kate for over 25 years and has three young children.

Patel owns a realty business which specializes in residential and retail real estate sales and investment.

Lincolnwood Trustee Mohammed Saleem

A Lincolnwood resident since 2014, Saleem is the CEO of Quigg Engineering Inc., an award winning transportation engineering firm, with locations throughout Illinois, and in Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, and Florida.

He has served on the Board of Directors of ACEC-IL (American Council of Engineering Companies). He enjoys volunteering his time and serving within the Indo-Pak community.

Saleem has volunteered at many schools, showing students the importance of STEM and engineering. He believes in an honest, transparent government that should be representative of the diverse people it is serving.

Saleem and his wife moved from Peterson Park to Lincolnwood for their children’s high school education.
