Mount Sinai Hospital raises $1.2 million at fundraising gala for prostate cancer research

On Thursday, April 10, the 2025 Prostate Cancer Research Gala was held at the Rainbow Room, Rockefeller Center, under the leadership of Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari, chief of Cancer Surgery at Mount Sinai. The event raised $1.2 million, according to a post-event release from Dr. Tiwari.

“It was a wonderful evening celebrating our extraordinary patients, physicians, scientists, and caregivers,” Dr. Tiwari said in his note.

The Visionary award was presented to honor Sybil and David Yurman “for their exceptional commitment to philanthropy and dedication to improving men’s health.” Additionally, Mt. Sinai’s Natasha Kyprianou, PHD, received the Steven Southwick, MD Memorial Award “for her groundbreaking research.”

“We are also thrilled to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal – raising over $1,200,000! Thank you to everyone who helped make this a record-breaking year!” Dr. Tiwari added.

“Your generosity enables us to recruit top leaders in clinical care and research, remain at the forefront of technology, set new standards in prostate cancer research, and provide every patient with compassionate, state-of-the-art care,” Dr. Tiwari said.

The mission of the Prostate Cancer Program within the Milton and Carroll Petrie Department of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai “is to eliminate prostate cancer through outstanding programs that integrate patient care through the Deane Prostate Health and Research Center, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public. We endeavor to be the premier prostate cancer center in the world, based on the excellence of our people, our research-driven patient care and our science. We are conquering cancer through creativity and new ideas.”
