The prestigious Miss World 2025 contest, a glorious tradition since 1951, will have its 72nd edition in Hyderabad in Telangana from May 7 to May 31. All eyes will be on Telangana as it prepares to welcome participants from 140 nations for this Miss World Festival, offering a transformative platform to showcase its vibrant culture, heritage and tourism potential on an unprecedented scale. The announcement was made at a grand pre-launch press conference at Plaza Hotel, Begumpet, Hyderabad, attended by esteemed dignitaries and global representatives and national media.

What made it extra-special for me was that this was was my first out-of-town jaunt for Parikh Worldwide Media after multiple such outings for my previous media house in the US.

The media was taken from all over India to the city that boasts of Char Minar et al and royally welcomed from the airport itself. The Plaza was decorated lavishly and a flurry of pictures were taken as teeka was applied on our foreheads. The hospitality was indeed lavish, complete with scrumptious buffer spreads (Hyderabad Dum Biryani was a staple at all four meals) and since Ramzan was on, special arrangements for Muslim mediapersons were made as they went on fast at sunrise and broke their fasts at sunset. Cars were freely avaialble for those wanting to see the city’s sights or go shopping for local specialities like the famed Osmania Biscuits.
