Kinshuk Patel, 33, of Babylon, NY, owner of Dapper Smoke Shop, located at 411 40th St., Lindenhurst in Long Island, was killed inside his business on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at approximately 9.40pm.

According to Suffolk County Police, a family member of Patel, who was unable to contact him on Wednesday night, went to the store to find him injured.

Patel was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

According to news channels, Patel is survived by his wife and two children, a 4-year-old and a 5-month-old.

His aunt, Trupti told ABC7 that Patel was the kindest soul she knew and would never fight back even when attacked. “His wife is devastated,” she added.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the murder.

One family which spoke to News India Times but did not want their name used, expressed shock and sadness when they heard the news of Patel’s murder.

They said, “This is supposed to be a safe community. It is jarring to hear that something like this happened. We didn’t know him personally but he used to visit the same temple in Melville we go to pray at. We will attend the funeral and also offer help to the family.”

The memorial service will take place at Lindenhurst Funeral Home on May 24 from 11.15am to 1.30pm.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
