John Abraham collaborates with Dinesh Vijan for the first time, in the action thriller Tehran. Under Maddock Films, Dinesh has produced some memorable movies like Cocktail, Go Goa Gone, Badlapur, Stree, Bala and Mimi, and to add to the filmography, he has announced his next, directed by Arun Gopalan and written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma. The film is inspired by true events.

Sharing the poster on Instagram, John wrote, “Get set for an action packed Republic Day 2023. Thrilled to announce my next, #Tehran!”

The movie is slated to have a Republic Day release next year: Republic Day and Independence Day releases usually suggest a film with patriotic themes and angles. Produced in association with Bake My Cake Films, it is co-produced by Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell.

John has been in the forefront of making several patriotic movies in the last few years—Force, Madras Café, Dishoom, Force 2, Parmanu—The Story of Pokhran, Satyameva Jayate, Romeo Akbar Walter, Batla House, Satyameva Jayate 2 and the forthcoming Attack (for which he has also written the story) and Pathan. He has also hosted Savdhaan India: Crime Alert, a TV series on crime. In the past, John has been a part of movies like Kabul Express and New York that were based on terrorism.

The film is set to clash with Anil Kapoor-Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone’s Fighter, directed by Siddharth Anand, at the box-office.
