GARDEN CITY, NY: The Indian-American community in New York recently gathered to bid farewell to the outgoing Deputy Consul General of India, Dr. Varun Jeph, in a heartfelt reception that highlighted his impactful tenure in strengthening bilateral ties between India and the United States. The event was graciously hosted by community leaders Harish Thakkar and Ajay Patel, with Mr. Prem Bhandri serving as the keynote speaker.

The farewell reception, attended by numerous community organizations, celebrated Dr. Jeph’s dedication to his role and the vibrant India-American diaspora. Harish Thakkar, past president of AIA NY and a prominent community leader, voiced his appreciation for Dr. Jeph’s contributions. Thakkar lauded the Consulate’s efforts under Dr. Jeph’s leadership, emphasizing its proactive and efficient approach to serving the needs of the community.

Dr. Jeph, who has served as India’s Deputy Consul General in New York, reflected on his tenure with a sense of accomplishment. His tenure was marked by his relentless efforts to bolster bilateral relations, which earned him admiration from the Indian-American community. The reception provided an opportunity for the diaspora to express their gratitude for his leadership and commitment.

In his keynote address, Mr. Prem Bhandari underscored the importance of unity among Indian organizations. Bhandari highlighted that fostering inclusivity, mutual respect, and resilience are essential for progress and play a crucial role in strengthening the social fabric of the community, promoting peace, and encouraging cultural prosperity.

The farewell event was supported by several diaspora organizations, including AAPI-State, AIA NY Chapter, American Punjabi Society (APS), Bruhud New York Seniors, Gujarati Samaj, International Ahimsa Foundation, Jaipur Foot USA, Rajasthan Medical Alumni Association, and the RANA (Rajasthan Association of North America), along with their members. These organizations collectively contributed to the success of the event, celebrating Dr. Jeph’s legacy and work with the community.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Jeph was presented with a plaque for his distinguished service to the Indian diaspora in New York. The award was presented by Harish Thakkar and Ajay Patel in recognition of Dr. Jeph’s exceptional contributions.
