IDP USA organize curtain raiser for parade in Long Island

The IDP USA (India Day Parade) Long Island, New York, organized a curtain raiser on May 23, for the actual event to be held on August 4th, 2019. The route of the parade is from Patel Brothers to Town Parking opposite Asa Mai Mandir in Hicksville, NY.

The celebration was held at Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola.  The Guest of Honor was Shamita Shetty, a Bollywood actor.

The Human Rights Commissioner Zahid Syed did the opening and introduced the Advisor of Parade Mukesh Modi, who partnered with Vice President of IDP, Bina Sabapathy, for Masters of Ceremony duties.

The parade’s curtain raiser ceremonies were done by TEAM IDP USA under the leadership of President Jasbir Jay Singh.

The Nassau County legislator Richard Nicollelo spoke about the Indian American community.  Nassau County Legislators Laura Scheffer and Joshua Lafazan gave proclamations to Shamita Shetty.

Dr. Urmilesh Arya, Naveen Shah of Navika, Harry Bolla of Bolla Oil, Amandeep Singh (Tony) of Food Universe and Sanjay Patel of Patel Brothers were also honored with citations by the government officials, both from Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and legislative chambers.

Kamlesh Mehta, founder IDP and other IDP Past Presidents Indu Jaiswal, Mohinder Taneja, Peter Bheddah, Beena Kothari shared memories of past years of parade and blessed Jay Singh with good wishes and promised their support to IDP.

Founder Bobby K. Kalotee was on live call from out of town.

Other prominent speakers included IALI President Lalit Aery, LILC Presidents Pinky Jaggi and Jyoti Gupta, Suhag Mehta of Ganesh Utsav, Ashmita Yogiraj, and Sadhvi ji from Maharaj Ashitosh Sansthan.
