Hemant Dinkar’s short film What’s in a Name? to screen at CSAFF

Florida-based filmmaker Hemant Dinkar, IT manager by profession and filmmaker as his hobby, has made seven short films, which have been selected in some prestigious festivals. He has also been earlier nominated for Best Director/Best Film at the Florida Short Film Festival, Cosmic Film Festival,Orlando Film Festival.

His short film, NewBorn Cinema’s What’s in a Name?, has recently been selected for the 13th Annual Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF). Says Hemant on this, “My short film is about Lakshmi, a homemaker who has recently moved to the USA due to her husband’s job, and how she deals with her day-to-day life and her ongoing issues with her neighbor. I am happy to share that I just got a confirmation from the Chicago South Asian film festival that my movie has been selected for the festival. This will be like a premiere for my film.”

He adds, “My lead actress in a scientist by profession, and all my other actors and the editor are working in the IT industry. We all work in different parts of the USA, but our love for cinema is the same, and this is our first attempt with a core Indian value. All the filming happened in Tampa Bay, Florida and none of the actors have ever worked in any film earlier. My team will attend this festival in person.”

The male lead, Neelkamal Chaudhary, is a research scientist. She has always been passionate about Hindi films and loved dancing to Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sridevi numbers while growing up. Priyanka Verma, the second lead, is an IT Engineer and has always been fascinated with Hindi movies and music. She has also produced short films. Kunal C. primarily works in the Healthcare industry.

Editor Rashmy Nair is a software engineer by profession. Her passion is fitness and creating aspirating content for Tik-Tok and other social media.
