Harpreet Singh Toor and Kevin Parker endorse each other for N.Y. Democratic Primary

This June 5, 2021, New York City Council District 23 Candidate Harpreet Singh Toor, and State Senator Kevin Parker, candidate for New York City Comptroller endorsed each other for the June 22nd Democratic Primary.

The event took place at the Toor for City Council headquarters in Bellerose, Queens.

“Kevin Parker has the experience, the leadership and the vision to help Eastern Queens, and all of New York, come out of the pandemic,” Toor is quoted saying in the press release. ”He is intimately familiar with the needs of the 23rd Council District’s many diverse communities, and I know that by working side-by-side we can bring all of the district’s communities together, and make certain everyone gets their fair share. \”

“I am honored and grateful to receive the endorsement of Harpreet Singh Toor — and I am proud to endorse him for New York City Council in District 23,” Senator Parker said.

“Harpreet not only understands the struggles hardworking New Yorkers face, he knows we must address them with smart and practical solutions. He will create a better future for his community and all of New York City. I wholeheartedly support him to represent the people of Council District 23.”

Toor has been a resident of New York City since his arrival in the U.S. from India in 1983. According to his profile on the campaign website toorforcitycouncil.com, Toor has been an advocate for the working and middle class families his entire adult life, and for nearly 40 years he has worked on behalf of the people of Queens.

He is noted for his 12 years of advocacy to achieve the passage and signing of the 2018 Religious Garb bill in Albany to end workplace discrimination. The major points on his agenda include affordable housing, small business support and nursing home care. Also, he is an advocate for public safety especially in light of increasing hate crimes, quality education and essential learning opportunities for all, and healthcare.
