Chicago’s United Cricket League T20 night tournament held

The United Cricket League of Chicago, UCL T20, held a night tournament for the first time at Skokie Sports Park Cricket ground, Sept. 24, 2020. It was the final match that saw team Anjuman face off against Chicago Tornado.

Chief Guests present at the match included Akhter Masood Chick (former Pakistani cricket player and former USACA President); Dr. Husnain from Michigan, UCL Advisor Syed Mushtaq Hussain; UCL Director Syed Iqbal; Faheem; Anwar Ul Haq, member of the UCL board of directors: Shehzaad, UCL Director; Iftikhar Shareef; and Mohammed Rafi, according to a press release from Asian Media USA.

Syed Mushtaq Hussain started the event by observing a minute of silence for people who lost their lives due to Covid-19.

Chicago Tornado captain Jaimin Patel won the toss and decided to field first.

Anjuman scored 215 in the first inning despite losing a few wickets early in the game. But their players Ahsan Syed and Ayaz Patel played an extraordinary inning.

Chicago Tornado tried to chase the 215 runs scored by their adversaries.

However, Anjuman’s Viral Patel bowled extraordinarily well, taking six wickets, the press release said. He was Man of the Match. Ayaz Patel was the Man of the Series.

The Chicago Tornado were all-out for 106.

Adil Azeem (UCL president) thanked all the teams who participated in UCL Night tournament, as well as umpires Shabbir Patel, Farhan Hashmi, Hanif Patel and Shaik Ahmed; the league MC Sufiyan Dukanwala and also supporters of the league. Azeem requested all cricket lovers to support the game in Chicago. Sponsors for the UCL night tournament included First Savings Bank, Pepsi, Happy Mortgage, Devon Discount Pharmacy, Air Tour Travels, Patel Brothers, Sabri Nahari and MP Jewelers.
